Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)

Sport for Life International (SFLI)’s #TennisAtHome is a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) sponsored digital activity programme targeting Year 6 – 7 students who are transitioning from primary to secondary schools. The original series was launched in July 2020 with the express aim of giving children a series of physical activity challenges based on tennis which they could access via their schools using tennis equipment provided by the LTA. Both LTA, SFLI and participating schools agreed that this was a vital tool to enable young people to enjoy tennis at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new 10 week series started on Monday 8th February 2021 and consisted of 20 tennis video sessions of 1’00 minute recorded with SFLI coaches Mohammed Naeem and Reuben Wilson. The LTA once again provided SFLI with tennis kit bags containing tennis racquets, tennis balls, pop up nets, markers and general training equipment. PE teachers made them available on schools’ portals and fed back amazing stories of their students having a lot of fun with the sessions. 50 young people from each of the secondary schools sent in feedback which was amazing. 90% increase their weekly physical activity levels. 85% said they had learned new skills. 70% said they wanted to continue playing tennis… (sample below of SFLI primary school participant…)
